How much did it cost to neuter your dog?

I believe female spaying may cost more, b/c there is more to the surgery. Dale hasn't been neutered yet, b/c we were contemplating showing him, but we aren't going to, so I called the vet to see what the cost was to neuter him. We have only gone to this vet a couple of times (we are new to the area), so i am not "hooked" on them,...anyway, they quoted $252!! I thought that was a bit high! So, i called another vet in the area, that i hear is good, and they quoted $165, which is more like it! I think we will be switching vets...i think their prices are crazy high on everything! ANyway, just curious what it was to neuter your dog. Dale is a large breed, so size should be noted, since that can effect the price....

$252 is a LOT to neuter a dog! Way too much.

In our area, $165 is still a little high, but it really depends on where you are.

It was roughly $120 (Canadian) to neuter Kai. Around here, $165 would be considered quite a bit but I guess it all depends on where you are.

It also depends on weight/size I believe?

I just looked in Jasper's vet book, and his neutering was exactly $178.82(Canadian).

    RIP Jasper. I can't believe you're gone.

I think it cost me $65 each to spayed my girls. I don't know if the County shelters get a deal with the vets or what.

I'm not sure right now, but when I had Ginger spayed it cost me $81/ with rabies shot and some other shot.

I need to set up a appointment for Reggie sometime this month. It will probably be around same price for her as it was for Ginger.

I just looked up my receipt for Ripley. His neutering was $98 but then he was only 11 lbs. at the time. They also noted that a couple of baby teeth were still in his mouth, crowding his permanent teeth which had already come in, so they extracted them. That was an addition $14.00 but was done while he was *knocked out* so I got two procedures done under one anesthesia.

About 150 for a female unless she's in heat then it's closer to 250.

The last male I had neutered was Hobo and because he weighs under 50 pounds he qualified as a small dog and it was just under 100 bucks.

Around here, $80-150 is most common, but on a large breed that is already pretty big, it can be very costly. Jynnelle's family paid $260 to have Baby spayed, and she was only six months old. That was the cheapest price they could find for a great dane.

EDIT: I forgot that the SPCA will neuter/spay for $50.

Harley was neutered at the shelter and it was included in his $85 adoption fee. Sylvia was spayed in February and it was only $120 I think. The males were less.

I don't remember the exact total, but Samantha's spaying was somewhere around $300.
