    I got a Trojan :(

So yeah, it seems I have picked up some sort of Trojan Horse? My virus scanner said "..had detected a virus. Cannot fix" and it's called download.trojan O_O So I put it in safe mode and am running a virus check..it's taking forever (Luckily I have 2 computers..so I'm using my desktop while it's doing that) anyway. I've been having so much trouble with spywear and such I've run spyware removes a lot and I still have it. I'm thinking of reformating my harddrive or whatever you call it -cries- This happen to anyone before?

Gosh, I keep getting my virus protection telling me that a trojan tried to nfect my computer. The best investment I've ever made was in Norton's Internet Security with a Firewall. The price has come down considerably and it has saved my computer many times! Good luck in removing/patching/quarrentine the virus.

    catnapper,
I never realize what was comming and going from my
pc till I got a firewall.

I don't understand why people think it fun to ruin someones
PC with virus's and other stuff.

    slleipnir, sorry about your PC.

    spyware

Several weeks ago I was having a problem with something (virus, trojan horse, I'm not really sure) which would hijack my browser and then I'd get a screen that was borderline pornographic. This was my computer at work! I resorted to paper over the monitor a couple of times because I sit where students, faculty and administration can see my monitor at virtually any time! We ran Adaware several times, Spybot a couple of times and they weren't catching it. One of the interns in Tech Support finally came over and ran something else which finally clobbered whatever it was. I will try to find out from that student what he ran and let you know. I'm sorry. This stuff is such a pain.

Wipes Spittle off Screen and pulls mind out of the gutter.

Sounds like you need some *protection*.

Well..I have Nortan Anti Virus (I ran a scan, and nothing came up) I also have a firewall......

My dad is a security freak. I don't think anyone could hack into his comp

Anyway, he helped me out today..we couldn't find IT. but I found lots of ways to find/get rid of spyware and stuff..I'd feel better if it was gone for sure though..

Format the harddrive, and it'll be gone for sure.........hopefully. I've had to do that before. Now I'm paranoid, and I guess its a good thing, because my computer hasn't gotten a virus in a long time. I've made rules..........no clicking on unknown emails, not clicking on ads, no going to kaaza, no downloading software from unknown sources, etc. Precautions really work. Wish you luck in fixing it up, and be sure to intall virus protection software on it!

These things download them self. download.trojan has to do with FTP. Not exactly sure, but I guess it goes from there. I do a lot of website work and use FTP programs. So I'm not sure if it got on my site some how...

as for getting rid of spyware - try to use adaware or spybot. Or reformate your harddrive....which I'm not willing to do right now, but believe me, it's crossed my mind :X All the stuff my dad showed me tonight I think will stop most of that spy stuff.

I'm not sure if my comp is fixed. It works fine, but I never deleted any trojan file. So maybe it never got on my comp I duno yet O_O

    -hisses at MACs- lol

    I'm sorry

I had a trojan a little over a month ago It sucked... really bad. I have a firewall now and I guess that's supposedly supposed to help defend against spyware (I'm really rather ignorant when it comes to computers )

Thanks for the signature & avatar kfamr
