Aneko had a seizure or a stroke last night :(

Aneko had a bad seizure or a stroke last night. She's at the vet this morning and we may have to make a decision about her soon. Her Anipryl (full dosage for her size) seems to have stopped working and her Canine Cognitive Disorder is back in full force. She never goes outside on her own anymore and stays under the bed all the time. When we put her out she stands there lost as to what to do or where to go. She stood outside yesterday for over 2 hours in the same spot. Never sat down, never moved until I went out to get her and I had to chase her around the yard. I left her out there so long because when I go to get her she runs and it stresses her out completely. She has peed & pooped all over the house, and the last couple of days has been crated, which she used to hate. Now she just lays there and sleeps. This is not an adjustment to the crate, this is something different, and I’m afraid, not good. She even cowers around Michael, which she's never done, and won't sit in his lap anymore. She has always adored him. She’s obviously miserable and if nothing can be done to make her happy, the kindest thing to do is to send her to the Rainbow Bridge.

This has all changed in a matter of just a few weeks. She's usually very adaptable, so I don't think Abby's had any affect on her. Abby submits to everyone in the house and has been at the vet since Monday anyway.

Oh no Micki, I'm so sorry to hear that. It's so hard to watch dogs suffer. Whatever you decide to do, it will be best for Aneko. I'll keep you both in my thoughs! {{{hugs}}}

I hope that something can be done for this sweet girl.
I do remember how much she adores your husband, something must be up for her to not want to be near him at all.

I know how sad it is to see her like this.

Oh micki I'm in tears reading this very sad news; I can only imagine how you and your husband are feeling right now Poor, sweet, baby girl. It's beyond heartbreaking to read of her being so terribly frighened and confused, not even wanting to sit with her daddy I'm going to say a special prayer for her micki, in hopes that perhaps the vet can help her. In the end, we all know that you will do what's best for your precious Aneko. Hoping for a miracle, micki. {{{HUGS}}}

My dad (who is a karate teacher and very Zen in sort of a mid-80's way) says act only when action is needed. If you're not sure action is needed, consider the nature of what the word 'REaction' really means.

Maybe this helps as you begin to make some tricky decisions.
