i dont know what it is it is big thow oh and the house is like half a foot hight i would show you but i dont have a picture when i get my fil developed i will show you i am very comfuseing some times i get mixed up in what i say so sorry if i am makeing no since
It's probably a 50 gallon tank. My friend has a society of hermit crabs in a 50 gallon tank, and it sounds like what you have. I would think tanks would get too hot for rats. Wire cages are open and better ventilated.

I have to dissagree here. Tanks are superb houses for does with babies, rats just past weaning age but not yet old enough for a wire cage etc. A 40 gallon long tank is perfectly fine for a pair of rats. I keep my does with babies in ten gallon tanks, and they are just fine.

Yes, I know they are excellent for does and the pups, that is what I housed my pregnant/nursing females in too. I would never house my rats (forever) in a tank for the main fact that the ventilation sucks compaired to wire cages and they can't climb around as much as they can on a wire cage. My does are horribly hyper and would die in a tank from borem from not being able to monkey around on the bars. Just my preference/opinion along with many others out there....

LOL, I guess rats are too smart for a C&C cage. I made one for my guinea pigs though - they don't even need a top to it - they can't get out! I'll post pics tomorrow, because they don't like it when I use the flash - it scares the poor girls! So I have to wait until it's light out.

    Here's Vern's cage:

Vern hanging from the side of it:

Of course George have a cage much like Vern's only a little smaller. I don't have any pictures of his though.

This is the only one I have of ChiChi's cage, it's not that good, but you get the idea.

And ChiChi inside it, that shelf above her swings, she loves it. she runs across it as fast as she can tring to get it to swing harder. It's funny to watch, but noisy.
