The Saga Of The Bloodhound Continues...

Ok. So we didn't get Homer. I was ok with that, but Chris was really sad. he really thought this was 'the one'.

    So I did something bad.

I looked in the paper for bloodhound puppies.

I found a breeder near me that I could go check out and he had puppies. I called him Saturday night and he called me back this morning. He informs me that he's got one black and tan female left and would I like to come see her? He seemed very nice and very knowledgable so I said yes. I even scrounged the $500 together just in case. Not easy when you don't have your cash card on you!

    I couldn't believe that I was ocnsidering buying a dog, but....well, I was.

I told him I woked until 7 and could I come to his place after 7 and he said no problem.

I get a message at 3 that a lady had come and bought the last puppy! *sigh* So I figured it just wasn't meant to be and shame on me for even considering buying the puppy. (I know I would have once I held that pup in my arms.)

The guy feels really bad about the puppy and he mentions this rescue bloodhound he has. She's a 3 1/2 year old female, spayed, housebroken, red color. This is exactly what we wanted in the first place! We would have taken a puppy but an adult is better! I'd much rather rescue one and he said there's be to charge or fee for her. Her name is Belle and I'm going to meet her right now.

    Wish me luck!

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

I haven't really spoken up before now but I've followed your ups and downs in this search and my heart is truly going out for you and Chris. I'm hoping and praying Belle is "the one!" Fingers and paws crossed here!

    Hi guys!!

I'd have a bloodhound home with me right now, but she didn't fit in my car!

    lololololololol

Belle was a sweetie, and all of their dogs were amazing! They had seven dogs in the house (including Belle) and they were all beautiful, clean, well cared-for and super, super friendly. Granted it was a little 'houndy smelling' in the house, but it is the rainy season here. lol

It was obvious they love all the dogs becuase the wife cried when we talked about me taking Belle home. They got Belle as a rescue and she had been bred and neglected and was suffering from a terrible pyometra. All the puppies died, but Belle made it. They spent $3,500 getting her better! One of the other dogs is picking on her and they feel she'd be better in a different house.

Chris is going to go pick her up tomorrow!
