    Cross-post: Hypo-allergenic cats?

Sorry for the cross-post but I am looking for a quick answer before someone I know makes a big mistake. Of course when we talk about mistakes with pets, it's usually the animal that ends up suffering.

So. . . is anyone aware of any breeds of cats that are hypo-allergenic? I know that ragdolls supposedly don't shed much, but I also heard that they do nothing to help allergies. Are there any cats out there that are recommended for people with allergies?

I've often read that there are breeds that will produce less dander and shed less, but can still give someone an allergic reaction.

Go here and scroll down a bit and it will say some stuff about allergies and cats.

There's the cornish rex cats with very short curly/wavy fur and the furless ones. MooShoo comes to mind ... haven't seen his pic posted in a while. Oh MooShoo? (calling)

No cat is 100% allergenic but some are better for people with allergies than others. Devon and Cornish rex are supposed to be good for people with allergies as well as a Sphynx (hairless kitties). I've never heard anything about ragdolls being hypo-allergenic.
