    Poisoning?

Tonight our dog, Belle - an overweight black lab(97 lbs) got a hold of a prescription for our other black lab. The vet refers to it as PPA - used for our older lab's incontinence. We think she ate about 6 pills(beef flavored)- since the other lab has 1/2 pill per day. The bottle was up on the counter w/the top secured. I hope someone can tell us what to expect. She has a cast iron stomach, and has been getting into anything she can - all of her 9 years. We're watching her, but there is no evidence of sickness. They may have shared, we don't know.

Please call the vet immediately!!! My husky takes PPA. As my lab is always into everything, I keep all medications locked in a high cabinet. I know that overdoses of this drug are very dangerous to humans. Please call this morning and let us know.

CALL THE VET IMMEDIATELY. Anytime you don't know what a medication is and your dog takes it, you should consult a vet!!!!

Let us know what is going on and if your lab is okay.

Thank you all for your concern. Belle is fine(she has a cast iron stomach) - the vet said the OD could cause exciteability. I noticed NONE - plus she threw up shortly after ingesting it. It decreased her appetite a little - which is good, but believe me - all meds will be way,way up out of reach from now on. I wish you all could see the med bottle - she really chewed a LOT to get into it.

Thank goodness Belle is o.k. We think of putting meds away from kids, but don't always think about it with dogs. Glad you got a place to store it high, high away.
    Glad all is well.
