    Parson Russell or Jack Russell?!

Ok, this might be old news, but I was on the AKC's website and it says...
"Note: The name of the Jack Russell Terrier was changed to the Parson Russell Terrier effective April 1, 2003 as requested by the Jack Russell Terrier Association of America, which was changed to the Parson Russell Terrier Association of America."

This seems so weird! I have heard of a Parson Russell Terrier, but I thought it was a different kind of dog. I guess I have a Parson Russell Terrier now! This really has no point; I just thought it was very interesting. Maybe I should change my signature.

yes perky is a JACK russle terrier, she has a long back and short legs, person russle terriers on the other hand have long legs, short backs and are taller. its basicly the same as the border collie and barbie collie(not an official name) border collie people dont want the breed ruined by show people, just liek the jack people dont want their breed ruined, so we give them seperate names to diffrentiate betwwen the 2. parson russle=short back, long legs, tall./barbie collie=short legs, fluffy coat, short muzzle, bulky body, just as jack russle=short legs, long back, sturdy build/border collie=long muzzle, light frame, smooth, or long flat coat, long legs.
basicly they are bred for working ability, health, practiblity, where as a parson/barbie are bred soley for looks
    make any sence at all?

Oh, it makes more sense now. I think Harley is a mix between a parson and a jack. He has short legs but he is way over 12.5 pounds. I think he is mixed with something else too. Thanks for clearing that up.
