As long as you feed the whole egg it is fine. Raw egg whites are said to be harmful alone.

Like kay said, they're good if you feed both white and yellow. I can't remember which is which but one takes away biotin and the other gives back even more. So as long as both are given together, you're fine. The only thing I don't like about eggs is that they're so fatty. Kai hasn't had one in a couple weeks. He usually gets one twice a week.

Yeah, it's good for them. Cody had one mixed in with his food once a week and now it's Klo's turn.. I'll bet your dog will learn the word "egg" really really fast!!!!

I don't like the idea of feeding raw eggs (or other raw animal products), only because they could contain harmful bacteria. But they also make the coat shiny. I'd rather feed oil than eggs for shininess though. Does anyone have any info about feeding the entire egg? Because in my research, I've only read NOT to feed the egg white because it is very hard for a dog to digest and it hurts their stomach.

Is there any problem in feeding a boiled egg to a dog? Seems that I've read about some problem with raw eggs being fed to dogs - it ties up some vitamin or something.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Egg whites contain a protein which ties up the vitamin, biotin. Many people avoid feeding their dogs raw eggs for this reason. Funny thing is, the yolk contains more than enough biotin to make up for any that the egg white binds to. So feeding raw egg whites alone is a problem; raw whole eggs however are alright. Boiling the egg destroys the biotin-binding protein and kills off any salmonella, so the safest thing is to cook them before feeding to your dog but I wouldn't flip out about feeding the occassional whole raw egg.

    Thanks for that Kay Ann!

So I'm guessing it's fine to just feed the YOLK alone then? I think I'll stick with that mostly because of how hard egg whites are to digest. Either way, I'm staying with cooked.

I don't think it really matters. My friends give their siberian husky one egg a day. Some people only give them an egg once a week. I'd watch Foxy and see if he likes the egg first, than start giving the eggs according to his personal preference. I wouldn't push him too often if he doesn't like the egg.

Yeah, I wouldn't MAKE him eat the egg.

Watch him when he poops and all, to see if it affects that. Like if it makes it runny and stuff.
