    Mona says thank you!

Gudrun just called me. The ultrasound went well and they found that Mona is in a very early stage of HCM which is absolutely not life threatening at the moment.

She will get pills that should keep the water in her lungs low and then will start with beta blockers. The vet said that she may not reach the age of 18 but could easily reach 12-13 years (she's 8 now).

Once her heart is stabilized, the tooth will be pulled. The vet says there are also methods with a very short anesthesia which uses a not so heavy medication.

The last days Mona had not eaten although Gudrun had tried with paste or cat milk but today she had a little kitten food. So we hope the main reason for not eating was the heat wave -we have temperatures in the high nineties for weeks now and Filou and Tigris also don't eat too much.

I am convinced that all the good wishes and prayers from Pet Talk helped to this good outcoming and say 1000 thank you's in the name of Mona, Gudrun and her other pets Robbie and Mimau (cats) and Teddy (black lab).

That's great news!!! I'm so glad Mona is going to be ok.

And it could be the heat because T & P also don't eat much when it's that warm out. Even with the A/C on, somehow they seem to know that it's hot and all they want to do is lay around on the cool tile floor.

Hopefully she'll be stabilized soon and the heat will end soon and Mona will be able to start eating normal again. She needs to keep her strength up now to keep her heart healthy.

Sorry I'm late getting to this thread. I'm so glad to hear that Mona will be alright. I will say a private little prayer tonight as I fall asleep that Mona continues to do well.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

    Phew!

    That is good news!

The power of Pet Talk Prayer at work!

Meanwhile, couldn't Gudrun feed Mona with a dropper? That's how we forced meds down Pixel's throat ... if we can do it with the feisty Pixel, then anything's possible!
