Does your dog like other people touching him/her?

PJ can`t stand it!! The day befroe yesterday a neighbor came to ask us if we wanted to go to her house and have a bar-b-q ,while we weretalking, PJ and Bailey ran out. The lady started to pet PJ,and he yelled as loud as he could. Just because she stated to touch him. She didn`t even hurt him. The lady yanked her hand up REALLY fast! PJ is so embarassing some times.

I was just thinking if I ever brought PJ to a PT meeting then none of you will be able to pet him.

That stinks! My dog embarasses me ALL the time!

But, she *really* loves when people pet her. Actually, whenever we bring her into Petsmart (her favorite store *ever!*, she goes around trying to look cute, and if they say something about how cute she is, or they talk to her, she gets up on her hind legs so people just can't resist her! She is such a ham!

Lol Kai doesn't embarass me much but when he does, they suck. Last night, I took him to a nightmarket on a few streets at chinatown. He pulled so hard. It felt like my arm was about to fall off. He was going wild too. I guess he was just too excited about the amount of people.

Kai's pretty good when people pet him. Sometimes he scares them by running up to them and jumping on them or licking their face lol. I have to watch him closely around little kids especially. I'm sure all 40 pounds of him could knock down a kid easily.

    strange dog

Hannah doesn't like me petting her. From when she was a tiny puppy, she wouldn't let me reach down and pet her on the head. Pretty hard to use praise and a pet for reinforcement when pets are refused and praise is ignored. I eventually trained her to *let me touch you*. She will now submit to a pet on the head or a rub on the side if I first give her the command *let me touch you*. But you can tell this still isn't something she would seek out or welcome.

On the other hand if we are sitting together in a chair or lying on the bed she loves being stroked or having her *doggie massage*. It is just when we are up and about that she acts like it is an invasion of her space to have me lean down to give her a pat.

Timber loves to be pet. It drives me nuts though, because is someone is near by, and won't pet her, she'll jump up on them. Grrr

Leather loves to be pet. But first she has to know that you are a good person. If you just walk in the yard, and say "oooh, puppy!" She will attack you. lol. But if someone comes in the yard with me, she'll give them a good look-over, still looking pretty mean, tail up, then finally give her tail a wag and go all mushy. "Love me! Pet me!"

Re: Does your dog like other people touching him/her?

Geesh!! Rocky embarrasses me ALL the time
    around strange dogs.
Sheba enjoyes being petted by strangers,
as long as she doesn't feel closed in if their
    are more than 2 people.
    (no crowds around her)

Rocky is pretty outgoing, and doesn't mind being petted,
as long as he goes up to the person first and checks them out.
If they dare just come right up to him (which I do not allow)
and started touching him, he would probably growl.

Rachel that is so funny that you mention that about Hanna.
Sheba will pull her head away from my hand when I
pet her on top of her head. (It's almost like a game)
I think it is a alpha thing.
She will come up to me for pets than pull away if my
    hands goes to her crown.
(now pets anywhere but her crown she doesn't do this)
I refuse to pet her when she does this to me. lol

Sounds exactly like Nebo! He doesn't really care for strangers. Even ask KayAnn...he wouldn't go up to her in the hotel at first. It takes him a while to warm up to people. He was ok with most people at the dog park I think, but that was probably just the atmosphere...all the dogs..no leashes. He seems more intimidated by men. No, he does not normally like strangers touching him. He's friendly to people he knows...but even with me....it's more of a "pet me if I want you to pet me."

My 3 have never met a stranger. There's just nothing better
then meeting new people. Murph and Maddie are more into
the touching and petting aspect though, than Oz. They both
love a good belly scratch. Oz will let people pet him, but his
true mission is to see if he can stick his nose in their face.

Both of mine are skidish around strangers. I'm sure t has everything to do with there past. Sierra is always head shy around men. And Buddy....all he'll do is take one quick lick of a strangers hand and back up.

Leo-NO!!! He once ripped a hole in a woman's pants

Patrick-Same as Nebo. It takes him a while to warm up to people.
If you really want him to let you pet him just give him a greenie and he'll love you forever!

If you're listening to this song
You may think the chords are going wrong
    But they're not
We just wrote it like that

When you're listening late at night
You may think the band are not quite right
But they are, they just play it like that

It doesn't really matter what chords I play
What words I say or time of day it is
As it's only a Northern song

It doesn't really matter what clothes I wear
Or how I fare or if my hair is brown
When it's only a Northern song

    If you think the harmony
Is a little dark and out of key
    You're correct, there's nobody there

And I told you there's no one there

For the most part Ruby loves people. She LOVES attention. She get's a wiggily, her tail goes crazy, and she wants to cover them in kisses

If we're going for a walk or something she mostly ignores people, but she loves it if they stop to pet her
