    Car Sickness...

My golden Lucie Lue, has terrible car sickness. Everytime, we go somewhere, she throws up, repeatedly. I feel so horrible, cuz I always take my min pin for rides, but it is hard to take Lucie Lue, cuz she gets so sick. Any advice???

I had an old Dachshund that was like that. When your in the car with her, feed her a little bit of food like a treat or something. That way she keeps her mind on the food and shes not so nervous.

How old is she? How many rides has she been on?

Both of mine got carsick at first, but got over it after a few rides.
I started out with little rides around the block, then longer and longer rides.
I just made sure they didn't eat before the trip!!

Our dog used to get a little sick also. We asked the vet and they said we could give her over the counter motion sickness pills. You should ask your vet to confirm the dosage. It is enough to make her tummy feel good, but not enough to knock her out. It might work for your furry friend.

You can give the dremamine (spelled right?) motion sickness pills, just check w/ your vet for proper dosage.
Also you can get her used to the car slowly. Take each step slow & very often preferably a few times a day. First start off by just sitting in the car w/ her, then just start the car, then just back up to the end of your driveway, then to the end of your street then around the block. Ignore the nervousness & wild behaviors & PRAISE all calmness!
Also try to bring her to fun spots, like the pet store, the park etc...
    Good luck

    My Abbey gets carsick too.
We have done so much with her, before she couldn't even be in the car 10 minutes without throwing up--now I can get her to my parents' (2 hours)

We give her dramamine or an anti-anxiety remedy. I got something from our local pet store that I just put on a treat and feed it to her--it helps calm her down.
The short rides helped her out a lot too, especially taking her to places she loves!!!

I don't think she'll ever be much of a rider, but I try to make her as comfortable as possible when she *has* to be in the car.
