Well, had my first Poodle in '78......had many more since. I have to say I do not like those fancy cuts that leave them 1/2 naked and 1/2 fluffy. BUT as their hair grows, it needs to be attended to. I prefer them to be givien an all round clip....shaved on the face and around the bum............as this makes them comfortable.
I do not have any Show Dogs................I have only got my dogs to love. and only have saved dogs to love. Never have any of my poodles been groomed for the sake of being a 'show off'. Regards Mich.

Sorry, my computer would not allow me to view your photo.......but do know of the clip you are talking about. Yes it is a cute clip. A long time ago I used to get mine done in the "Lamb Clip" which was a little puff on the head, and what looked like legs from the hip to the paws.......clean face and bum and a puff on the cropped tail ( that was when they used to crop the tails).

I liked that, it was neat, tidy and the dogs were comfortable.

I like them all natural. I understand the cuts for the shows and stuff, but I don't like them at all!!

Yes I agree, and it is not one of those fancy show cuts........and the dog looks nice and the dog is comfortable, which is the main thing where I am concerned. .

Thank you KayAnn. I was watching Breed All About It a couple of weeks ago and they were highlighting the poodle. They mentioned something that maybe non-poodle people don't realize. Poodle's fur is the most like human's hair. For example if you shaved another dog down to their skin, when it grew back in to the regular length of that dog's coat it would stop growing. Not so with poodles. If it is not cut it will keep growing and growing and growing and growing just like ours! The problem with that also is that it mats, so you have the possibility of a very horrible looking, miserable feeling dog (as Ripley was when I first saw him at the shelter). I have always kept my dogs in the puppy clip. It is so easy to manage. I do admit to loving the fluffy head and puffy tail tip though. Other than that, just give me plain!

Oh, I couldn't agree more. You have to think about the comfort of the animal, and I know, like you, about the horrible matty hair! !

Also the Poodle if left without clipping........it is so very painful for the dog. People who have never owned or rescued one have no idea. When they vote for leaving them natural......you know they don't know anything about them. That is all I can say! ! ! !

She is gorgeous! I too like the name.

My neighbors and best friends that used to live across the street have two poodles. They're both the smaller kinda, one is black and the other is red. Seabastion and Captain. We call em Seabass and Cappy though. They're both getting so old now, and Seabass lost his vision. Sweetest little puppers though.
