    example for wrong comments... :(

I know we discussed this a while ago, those comments that make a cat lover's heart bleed....

As you probably know, I'm worrying so much about my Luna girl at the moment, she had a tumor removed and now I'm waiting for the histology report from the lab. Of course, as you can imagine, I'm almost sick myself now!

AND WHAT DID MY MOTHER'S FIANCÉ TELL ME TODAY????? "You have to realize that a cat is just a cat!" - Well, I didn't even start to discuss that issue with him, he's that kind of person that will never understand that I love Luna as if she was my own baby!

The other day, I got annoyed about another comment he and my mother made: I showed them pictures of the little kitten I'm most likely getting for Luna as a sister, and all they said was "She's ugly and has an unfriendly look on her face"! I couldn't believe they said that!!! That's the kitten btw:

Kirsten, please ignore the comments of an ignorant person such as that man. People who have no compassion for cats (or any animals for that matter) lack understanding and depth of soul.

Luna and her soon-to-be sister are beautiful and they bring you much joy and love...

I think what they said is wrong! And mean! Rude too, btw.(I'm not meaning to be mean or anything, that's just the way I'm seeing it) I know how you feel about doing things for your animals (Luna having a tumor removed). Back before I was born, my parents had a Norweigan Elk Hound, Bo, who was hit by a car. They took him all over our part of the state to specialists, seeing what they could do for him. By the time they were done, they had spent somewhere around 1,000 dollars on Bo, who in turn had been diagnosed to have 3 legs amputated. Then it was a matter of quality of life, a dog with only 1 leg couldn't walk. So they ended having to put him to sleep, which is sad. This just goes to show how much some people care about their animals.

I think the kitten is adorable and would make a fine kitty when she grows up. And the look on her face doesn't seem like unfriendlyness, she's just a baby and babies get funny looks on their faces sometimes whether they're human, canine, feline or any other! Sorry this is sooooo long!!!

    Kirsten,
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and looks matter somehow? I don't think so. BUT, you can't change someone's impression of pets...and, face it, some people do see them as 'just animals'. That is there problem, not yours. I don't see the need to discuss it with him, and when he does start down that path, tune him out. It isn't worth it, really, it isn't.

    Still praying for Luna!!

People like that aren't worth wasting your breath on! EVEN if they feel that way, why hurt your feelings with their rude comments. Things like this just burn me up. I think they're just miserable people who don't like to see others happy.

I sure hope Luna is well, this has had to be such a worry for you. And the kitten is beautiful. Hang in there girl! You have friends here.

You are at the right place for support. The loss is their's. These insensitive people will never know the unconditional love of a pet and how they can enrich a person's life for the better. Sending all the positive energy I can Luna and your way. The kitten is adorable and will bring you and Luna much joy.

Thanks! So good to talk to people who feel the same way!

And you're right, I won't discuss these things with people like that anymore, it's wasted energy!

People like that are ignorant because they don't understand what its like to be a cat/dog lover ... they should learn to respect our feelings. And Lunas possible sister is adorable! Lovely!

I think that little kitten is absolutely adorable. I can't wait to see pictures of her and Luna together.

Those comments are best ignored. If you know someone is not sympathetic, don't talk about your animals. I only discuss my pets with people who are like-minded. By the way the kitten is beautiful!

tell them "you think the kitten has an unfriendly look on its face, geez you ought to take a look in the mirror" its ugly? what about babies when they are firstborn... does that mean people should not want them? geez how insensitive. Ive never heard of someone not just melting over a kitten!
as far as a cat just being a cat... I think I said this before, thats just demeaning to you. it is a pet, a living being that YOU love, so to say its just a cat demeans your feeling for it. did that make sense? what is just a cat anyway? what does that mean? that because it has more than 2 legs and isn't cruel its not worthy?

There is no point in arguing with someone who thinks animals are useless. You will only stress yourself out and you will NEVER change their minds.
