    Scottish fold stray?

I am noticing that strays come and go from this stray and feral feline feeding and lodging place. Now, there is a black cat with rumpled ears who sits on my back outside porch, that is, when Otis is not around. This cat's ears are not completely folded over like a Scottish Fold, but neither are they straight up, like in a regular DSH cat. This black cat is still afraid of me, and I cannot get within 15 ft from it without it running off. I am wondering if this stray is part Scottish Fold, or if his ears, perhaps from a birth defect, are out of correct form?

Thanks for the info, Donna. Although the cats pictured on the suggested website, are definitely of a folded-ear type, my stray, has ears that are not completely folded over. Unfortunately I cannot get close enough to the cat to get a good look at his ears, but from what I can tell, they are paritally folded, or rumpled up.

As long as I keep Otis away from my strays and ferals, they will come around for feeding, but when he gets outside, he will chase every cat away from the property. We had a Mopsy look-alike here last month, but a little smaller cat. I believe Otis ran her off also, as I have not seen her for the past 2 weeks. BTW. today's Cat of the Day (5/17) looks exactly like Otis

    L. Wayne,

It's possible that frostbite got to her ears, especially if she's a feral cat.

Back in CT, we rescued at cat that lost both his ears to frostbite. We named him VanGogh. We featured him in an adoption fair at a cat show. One of the judges adopted him! So it was a very happy ending.

There was a cat in my neighborhood when I was a kid who had been stung by a bee on his ear, which made it crumple over. The other ear got injured in a fight, so he was a faux-fold cat!

Donna, thanks for the input. It never crossed my mind about frost bite. As is usual, most of the cats that come here for feeding are new to me and perhaps they are dumped off nearby because of this part of towns' proxmity to the Virdigris River bottoms. But if I wait another week or so, there will be another stray/feral show up.
