I don't think there is a best breed. Each breed is suited for different people. Personally, for me....I like pittys. I like their energy, short, non-shedding coat and their wiggle butts. And I really like mutts.

LOL I totally could be, huh? But I have to say, I like a waggy tail, too. Oohh...and also because they're on the smaller side. Hehe.

Pittys are supposed to be between 40-50 lbs. The trend lately has been to breed so-called "giant" pittys that range from 70-90 lbs. Personally, I don't agree with this. I think a 40 lb pitty is plenty enough to handle and being smaller keeps them healthier, too.

I hear what you say about the whole rat tail thing. We have a boxer/pitty mix and he's kinda got a rat tail! It doubles as a good club, too. LOL

CKatt, how do they get them to "breed" that much bigger?

A dobe typically weighs up to 85 pounds or so...

However, my boys aren't quite 85 pounds...

Callihan, an 8 year old male, has been on adult weight loss food for about the last 6 months. He, like me, has gained a few pounds since his "diet". He weighs in at 120 pounds.

Mitchell, the 9 month old "puppy" weighs in at 90 pounds.

These boys eat Iams and only 2x's a day!

    I swear people!

    maybe the picture explains it???

Typically they will keep inbreeding them to the biggest dogs in the litters. Also, some have been known to throw a mastiff in there to make them bigger. Some people......
