Thread: BECAUSE DOGS LIVE HERE

    BECAUSE DOGS LIVE HERE

If you don't want to be greeted with paws and wriggly rears, don't come inside.
    BECAUSE DOGS LIVE HERE!

If you don't like the feel of a cold nose or wet tongue, don't come inside.
    BECAUSE DOGS LIVE HERE!

If you don't want to step over scattered toys, don't come inside.
    BECAUSE DOGS LIVE HERE!

If you think a home ought to smell like perfume, don't come inside.
    BECAUSE DOGS LIVE HERE!

If you don't mind all of this, you'll be instantly loved when you do come inside.
    BECAUSE DOGS LIVE HERE!

This is just something i picked up at another pet site and thought everyone here might enjoy this. I thought it was very cute and i hope you all like it too. I put a house border around it and changed the last line to "because a Boxer lives here!" (because i own a boxer) and printed it out to be displayed. Just a thought if anyone wanted to make it more personalised for their dog(s).

You know what? When I first got Drake, I ws terrified of my house smelling bad. No offense, but I still have to live there as well. I had been to homes that reeked so bad that it made me skeptical. But I found out that if you keep your doggy clean, thenm you will not have a problem. When people come to my house, they can not belive that I have a big hairy dog that lives inside! I think the fact that Drake gets bathed once a week and that I walk around the house with a vaccum cleaner and dusting cloth helps alot! I have candles and all sorts of smelly stuff around.

Oooh, I found these cinammon scented pine cones at K-mart. There are about 8-10 in a bag and they are about $5.00. Great smell and works well for the holidays.

I have four dogs, and I can honestly say that my house does not smell 'doggy!' We only bathe them 2 or three times a year, too (except for Pup, who has a habit of rolling in yucky stuff). People are always surprised that there is virtually no doggy odor! I recently started using a baking soda-based carpet powder when I vacuum, so now my house not only smells clean, but smells lightly like flowers!
The one cleanliness problem we have is with carpet cleaning. Greyhounds have sensitive stomachs, and throw up if they eat anything that disagrees with them. Combine that with Pup's previous lapses in housebreaking, and our beige dining room carpet is not pretty! We steam clean and use enzymatic cleaners, and the spots vanish for a while, and then re-appear when we get a humid day. This is the one thing that bugs me!
I can handle twisting my ankles on toys, dusting and vacuuming more frequently, muddy (and sometimes worse after running in the yard after potty-time) footprints tracked through the kitchen, always having blankets, bedding or toys to wash, cold noses in the tushie first thing in the a.m., etc., etc., etc.....

    That's so cute!!!

Before we got Daisy, my mom had me reading book upon book about dog training and about Bassets. I read this one book... I swear, a dog hater wrote it! It talked about Bassets being very oily!!! SO oily, that if they rubbed up aainst a wall, it would leave a dirty oil stain. It also said that no matter how many baths you give them, they would stink up the whole house. I read this after my parents agreed to get Daisy... and they started havign second thoughts! But we got her, and the oil thing was one hundred percent nonsense, and our house does not smell one bit doggy. As for Yankee Candles... get this... I am allergic to 95%of them!!! My mother and I are allergic to anything with an artifical scent... yeah that means no perfume, no scented lotions, and no scented candles! One time I was even allergic to my boyfriend when he wore cologne! LOL. Good thing I am not allergic to the best smells in life though... like puppy breath!

Thanks for posting this!!! It sure speaks
for how I feel about SHARING my house & life
    with furry friends...
    Three-Greys & Pup,
I finally got to see two Greyhounds in person while stocking up at PetsMart a few
days ago.I had no idea Greys were So Tall..
The proud parents were showing them off to
the people who stopped to admire them.
There was a male(Black coat) & Brindle female. Greys are truly AWESOME creatures !!!

Delidog i wasn't sure where this saying came from like i said i seen it at another pet site.I kinda figured it had was a saying for a welcome mat because it says "don't come inside".

I hope noone thought i was implying that if you have dogs (or other pets) that your house will stink. My house does not stink or smell like a dog either. I just thought it was cute and for the most part true (except the smell thing). LOL

Lizbud you are welcome. I think i have other sayings or poems, if you like i can look and see and then post them if your interested?

Sorry, Angie, in re-reading my post, it DOES sound as if I was defending myself against an accusation that my house stinks! Sorry, didn't mean to come off that way!

I was just thinking, after reading Souraya's post, about how everyone expects that my house will stink like dirty dog, since I have 4 of them (dogs, not dirty dogs), but then they are pleasantly surprised when they come over to a nice-smelling home. Just my musings, that's all! I enjoyed the poem! I'd bet that someone has made plaque out of it - it would be nice to hang on the front door!

Although PJ is not a greyhound, he often eats things that don't disagree with him. Now, I've managed to teach him to tell me when he needs to barf, so I can get him outside quickly. Obviously, when he's feeling sick, he can't speak, so he'll come over to where I am and either nudge me with his nose, or tap me on the leg with his paw. Thank goodness we avoid those nasty messes now.

I'll have to remember this cute little poem next time I go have my nails done. My nail lady has a Sharpai mixed with boxer or St. Bernard or some other drooley breed. Never fails - I come in and he slimes me every time. Don't usually mind too awful much - it washes out - unless he's been eating dirt, then I have a problem

That is ok. I understand. Sometimes when reading messages it is hard to understand what the person is actually meaning. I just wanted to make sure noone thought i was implying that their house stinks.
