Puppies - When To Take Them Away From Mom

HI!!! I'M NEW AT THIS, SO PLEASE BEAR WITH ME... MY TOY POODLE IS NOW A BRAND NEW MOM.... JUST 10 DAYS AGO. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS, WHEN SHOULD I GIVE THE PUPPIES AWAY... IS IT WHEN THEY ARE A MONTH OLD? OR DO I HAVE TO WAIT LONGER.

    THANKS [B]

They should be 8 weeks old. 5 weeks is too early to be away from their mother. 8 weeks is the key time. You shouldn't wait too much longer than 8 weeks, and for sure please don't rehome them before 8 weeks.

I can explain the reasons later - gotta take my dogs out right now.

Yes, I have to agree! They have to be 8 weeks old when they go to their new homes. Please make sure you aks a lot of questions, when you are selling the puppies! Make sure that they are going to wonderful new homes!

At least 8 weeks! They need this time to socialize with their littermates.

I'm going to agree with being at least 8 weeks being the best. Dakota was only 6 weeks and she turned out fine, but I've always been told that they should be 8 weeks and never, ever younger than 6 weeks.

8 weeks! If they are taken away from there mother to early they can sometimes end up with "mental" problems. be careful and dont give them away until they are 8 weeks! Also give them away to good homes. good luck!

At least 8 weeks is the usual time. Congratulations on your dog being a new mom, and try not to get toooooo attached to the pups! It will be hard to see them go, I am sure, but at least if you know they are going to good homes, you will know you are spreading joy far and wide!

congrats to you and your dog how exciting

the ideal time is 8 weeks but i got mickey at 7 weeks. not much of a difference though. it is important for the pups to grow and socialize with its mother and littermates for awhile. keep us updated

I think that when there 6 weeks old you can start giving them away. Thats how old my dog was when i got him.
