    Bent tail

    Hi,

I posted in general about my new kitten Mandy. I also stated there that she has a bent tail. I was just wondering if that is something I should be worried about. I heard of cats with bent tails befor but I have never seen one. I maybe thinking about this a little bit too much but I just wanted to know what you guys think about it.

I will try to get some pictures over the weekend. I really don't think you are going to be able to see the bend in her tail in the pictures because you can hardly see it when you look at her. You can feel it though.

A lot of poorly-bred Siamese have a kink at the end of the tail. We had two of these when I was a kid. Now I suspect the breeder did not practice the best husbandry if there were two of these mutations in the same litter. Anyway, it wasn't a problem to the cats' well being (just, perhaps, their vanity. )

In Asia this is most common in cats. It is a genetic defect which is just a question of beauty -not of health.

My Bach has a slight bend at the tip of his tail. It doesn't affect him in the slightest, and in fact, he seems to think it makes him extra special!

The vet wasn't concerned about it, and she was the one that pointed it out to us. She said it could be that he was born with it, or got his tail injured when he was a baby... I think he was born with it, because we've never stepped on him or anything to hurt his tail or any other part of him.

So I'd just enjoy having a kitty with a bent tail
