upgrading to XP from winsucks98 SE

I got the XP CDrom and I wanna install it, but I am currently running Windoze98 SE. Apparently, going from windoze98 SE to XP, is not such a good idea :O

We did that and it took a long time to get the little things (internet connection, re-installing printer etc drivers) working again! I don't really care what operating system I use, so XP doesn't seem that whizz-bang to me, just takes up a lot more hard disk space as you mentioned.

Also, 128mb of RAM wasn't enough any more, and we had to go to 256mb of RAM just to get XP going at a reasonable speed. Good lesson for us on how Win-Doze got its name

We're running Windows 2000 Professional and it works great, but, like I said, I'm so incredibly ignorant of this stuff, I don't know if I'd know the difference!

We have 3 computers, 3 versions of Windows. The laptop is XP Prof. mine is XP Home, and Tom's is 98 second. I do like XP better, it has some really easy to use features that 98 doesn't have. His computer it too old and slow to put XP on. But 98 runs great on it. And it doesn't seem too slow. It came with 95 and we upgraded to 98 second and put in a bigger hard drive. I say 'we', but 'we' have no idea how to do those things, our friend did it for us. I don't see any difference between Prof. and Home on XP. It will be harder to get support on 98 second from MS.And I don't think there is any support now for 95. They just want our money , always newer, better and improved...
