Cody, the dog I asked about in relation to addison's disease, had to be put down today. Yesterday he broke his hip, only by slipping off a sidewalk curb. The ball part of his rear right leg broke completely off.. it wasn't a crack.. but a complete break. Because of his heart murmur, his kidney problems, and his age (14yrs) we decided, with the assurance from the vet that it was the best thing, to end his suffering.
Cody came to us after we saw an add in a newspaper. The family didn't want him anymore because he howled - he was left in the back yard tied to a rope all day - he was lonely! We brought him home, and he was so smart my dad was able to teach him to sit and shake a paw in the 45 min drive back to our house.
He was already named when we got him, but it was coincidence that my mom had already chosen that name for her new pup. What a suprise when we called - it was meant to be!
Cody had been neglected with his first home, so he didn't know how to play. His favourite thing to do was run around, chasing us and barking. He was a great barker - really knew how to get your attention! Also, his very soulful brown eyes certainly helped get him whatever he wanted!
Cody was a very loving, easy going animal. He never asked for anything more than love and pets, and a good back scratch from time to time.
We love you Cody. Run at the RB and bark to your heart's content. Make sure to check in on all the other pets that have left us so recently - tell them we miss them too.
Love,
Your Family
