    Da Puppies Are HERE!!

Just found out last night that the mamma Golden Retreiver had 8 babies on Friday Sep 28. 5 red ones and 3 light ones. I believe 5 males and 3 females.
Not sure when I will get to see them, maybe in November.
    Finally some good news!!!

OOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I just love puppies! Especially Golden puppies! As far as color is concerned it never mattered to me. Mine have all been on the reddish side except for my Dusty. He is a light blonde gold. Nice for a change. I call him Little Dust since he is just a little dusting of gold!

It is probably too early to tell if the lighter ones will stay that way or not. Usually when the hair on the ears starts to grow (around two weeks when the ears open up) you can tell. Whatever color the ears are when they are pups is the color they will become when they are full grown. My Dixie was blonde but turned light red! Her brother is a deep Mahogany Red and just beautiful.

See if you can get pictures! Let us know if you are getting a boy or a girl. Do you know the pedigree? Just curious to see if I know any of the line or not?

Congratulations again and keep us posted. I can relate to needing a puppy fix! And.... I just LOVE puppy breath! I think they should bottle it and sell it as a cologne I hear some of you going YUK! LOL

Eight Golden Retriever babies!!! That's my idea of paradise
It will be very hard to make up your mind if you see them when they are two months old, all coming to greet you at the same time. The last time I saw a litter of Golden puppies, ten years ago when I got my second Golden, Irina was the one who decided she was coming home with me.

Staci!!! How exciting!!! You know, I have a very light one in Honey, whose color never changed (unless she digs a lot in the red clay ), and Lilly who is much more the traditional reddish color. They are both beautiful to me!! You will be so happy!!!

Hope you can at least get to see pictures, but won't it be wonderful when you can get a big wiff of that wonderful puppy breath?

    I'm so happy for you!!

I think I would like a red female. But who knows?! I really am leaning toward the name Zoe, but once I meet her I may change my mind!!!
I know they are registered and come with papers. I have no clue what the granparents are. I do know the daddy's name is Dryfuse?!?!
puppy breath is awesome and most of us think it should be bottled, a cologne tho??? I was thinking more on the lines of an antidepressent!!!
Not sure if I can get picks maybe if hes connected he can email them to me or something. Will have to find out!!

Wow! That's great!! Can't wait until you get your puppy. If they were born September 28, and they can go home in 8 weeks, that would be the end of November, early December. I just can't wait!!

Okay! I will go for the antidepressant instead of the cologne. Anybody who can be depressed around puppies need to be depressed

I'm glad you chose a girl. I am partial to girls, they just seem to listen better! Boys are nice to (remember I have one) but they can be a little more stubborn and it takes them longer to mature!

Here is where you may not agree with me but.... I never give people the pick of an entire litter. I have them fill out a questionnaire telling me what they are looking for in a dog, tell me about their family, their environment, their experience with dogs, etc. After they fill this out I have a better idea of who they are and what they are looking for. I then have the puppies temperment tested by a professional at 7 weeks. This needs to be done on day 49 after birth. 9 times out of 10 my analysis and the testers match. I then match puppies to the families according to the puppies qualities and what the family was looking for. I usually try to give them a choice between two pups but if there is a perfect match I don't.

The reason for not giving the choice of the whole litter is simple. I, as the breeder, have been with the pups day in and day out for 8 weeks. I know them and have already worked with them and know their personality. When you come to get a pup it may be after they have played extensively or one is not up to it's usual par and you just decide to go for the one that comes to you first. While sometimes this works out, most times it doesn't. For instance I will never place a high energy bundle in an elderly home or with very small children under 3 years of age. I would look for a more layed back easy going baby who isn't going to go spastic. There is a lot of consideration that goes into the homes my babies are placed in.

My recommendation would be to figure out exactly what you are looking for in your pup. Tell the breeder and let her tell you which one would be the best fit for your needs. I know this was not what you were expecting in this post but I'd like to see you get the best baby girl possible that fits your home the best!

OOOOHHHHHH I really need a puppy fix now. Dixie will be going into heat again in the next few weeks but we are not breeding her this time. Perhaps next time though!!!!!! YEA!

I'm so happy that everything is going good with the puppies. Maybe you can visit them and sneak some pictures to us?
My pets are usually pleased with what I do, because they are not inflected with the concept of what I SHOULD be doing. My time is owned by: Missie,Thor, and Trinity!

Dixieland Dancer, I think your work on trying to match the puppy with the prospective guardian is awesome. I once had a puppy that was the exact opposite of what I could handle (no, not Hannah) and it was a devastating experience. I think a little interview on the part of the breeder could have perhaps prevented a very poor match. Bless you for taking the time to try and help your pups find forever homes.
