Dearest Xander, a.k.a. "Brown dog," you are adorable! What a sweet face you have, with that mouth wide open in what sure looks like a grin, and those perky ears, and those lovely big brown eyes looking straight at me. And what a story you have to tell! You came to your dear person as a Hurricane Katrina rescue. (We are so glad about and grateful to your rescuers who saved you and then your dear person who brought you to your Furrrever Home.) You have two doggie housemates, your crazy 90 lb. "brother" and energetic 12 lb. "sister." Your breed is just a guess, but you do have those appropriate herding instincts! You make sure everyone is where they should be at all times, in your own sweet way. You and all your dear family members love each other very much, don't you. What a delightful love-filled home you share!

Congratulations, darling Xander, on being chosen today's Dog of the Day! We hope you and your brother and sister and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats.

Oh, Xander! Tthat face!!! Your beautiful smile, your expressive, love filled brown eyes have my heart in total meltdown mode! What a gorgeous Sheltie x Australian Cattle Dog you are, sweetheart, beautiful inside and out (though I can hardly believer you're 13 years young)! I laughed out loud, picturing you seated between your 90 lb brother and 12 lb sister! Throwback to Goldilocks...not too big, not too small, JUST RIGHT! Or, as your mom would says, the perfect balance between the two, the Jan Brady of the pack, bringing some sanity and balance to the family!

Endless thanks to your family for coming to your aid in your time of great need, opening up their home and hearts to one most deserving boy, a Katrina survivor! And every day since your homecoming so many years ago, you have repaid your humans' compassion with your love and loyalty, bringing so much joy to their lives! How blessed your family is, having a furkid, a best friend, a loyal and loving companion in you! You're just as special as they come, Xander, a treasure, and so very deserving of your big day of honor!
