Happy Canada Day. you Canucks! Have fun! I thought Canada was older than that.

Can't upload images, neither from my desktop to here, nor to my album.

Me too. Thanks for the history lesson, Princess Pat.

BTW ~ Bobcat has documentation that his grandmother's family came over on the Mayflower. They kept moving north. A few hundred years later, when the American Revolutionary War broke out, they were loyal to England and moved to Canada. So, I guess I was thinking that Canada was already a country when America was fighting a war to become its own country.

It was a British colony for a lot longer.

Phesina asked me to upload this:

Happy Canada Day indeed, even if my Canadian roots (paternal grandmother's parents) are from the secessionist Quebec!

The secessionist Quebec is very different these days. As newer generations have come along the vast majority don't see the point. Quebec does have a truly unique culture. And yes, their provincial legislative building is still called the "National Assembly". But tensions are easing off.

And if one does try to speak some French, it is very appreciated - at least in my experience.

Wait until you get to be 240.

The people in charge and the people reporting on it are all turn into senile fools when they get THAT old.

Hopefully you all can avoid that pitfall.
