The Catastrophe and the Aftermath - what is next

So finally at 10 p.m. tonight Eastern time, Pet Talk has been restored from the last back-up. Sadly, this means we have two years of missing posts, but I am still holding out a bit of hope, as there is some from The Parrot Forum who contacted a recovery company about seeing what they could scrape/recover from the Internet for us.

I will also check with the friend ho was going to try to convince the hosting company to ship us the "dead" drives, to see if anything can be salvaged from either one.

I am heartsick about the two years of missing posts, so sorry everyone.

Karen, the important thing is you are ok and Pet Talk is back and will go on. We will make new memories.

I was worried pet talk was gone forever. Thanks Karen, this is a good alternative.

Thanks, MoFF, I couldn't have put it better myself. I second the motion!

Thanks, Karen, for all your hard work bringing it back. Welcome back, Karen and all the pets and all our fellow Pet Talkers! I've missed you.

I'm glad to see Pet Talk back, and that you are OK, Karen. I know it's been a lot of work for you. It's sad that two years of posts are missing, though. I feel bad for the members who made such an effort to post to the pets of day, every single day, and all the great advice about sick pets.

    But we will post more!

Some things are still not working right, like posting pictures and editing posts, but I bet you are looking into it.

So for now I know attachments are not working, albums are not working or are empty, and some people get a white screen after posting that then goes away. Those I am sure are fixable.

Anything else you notice, let me know, and I will work on that all tonight, as indexing the site slows down the board. I have to go attend to other things now, but so glad you are all here and posting again!

Post anything else you discover missing ... and thanks again!

I started a thread in Today's Cats on the Cat of the Day for May 7. I first titled it "Beautiful British Bella!" and it got listed in the thread list that way. Then later I changed the title to "Beautiful British Bella, COTD for May 7, 2017!" The new title shows on the post itself, but it has not changed in the thread listings.

I was thinking it might be helpful to have the dates of these animals in the titles in the listings, so people can look over the list and know which ones were featured when.

Thanks for all your hard work, Karen!

Karen, thank you for all your efforts and your hard work.
I'm very happy to be back with my PT friends.
Since I've been on PT for less than a year, all my info is gone and at this point, I can't access my profile page.
This might have something to do with me having to re-register, and the process is not finished yet.
I hope to be back completely in a few days, pictures and all.

Yeah, we should give Karen some time.

Anyway, yesterday I could access my albums and everything in my profile, but not today - I assume Karen is working on something.

When I posted pics from url yesterday, I could do it when I deactivated "Retrieve remote file and reference locally” - and when I had posted and got a blank page after trying to go back, I went page back and hit reply more time, and even though it said it’s a duplicate post, it won’t go on twice.

It also shows the first poster on a thread, where it should show the last... well it doesn't anymore. And editing is extremely slow.

We'll just have to wait for these little things to get fixed. Good luck, Karen!

Thank you, Karen for all your work with this! I agree with what everyone has said! And thank you, Randi and tatsxxx11 for starting all the threads for the dogs, cats and pets! I have a lot of catching up to do! I'm just glad to be back with my PT Friends!
