    Toy poodles!

My first choice would be a toy poodle but I suppose you could say I am a little biased! I have had two of them and they are wonderful little dogs. They are easily trained and devoted companions and nothing makes them happier than to do their human's bidding, but they do require extensive grooming either by yourself or a professional groomer.

Re: Breed for a small house

I would probably stay away from the terrier breeds,
or any breed that require a lot of excersize.

Toy dogs would be a great choice, but do not rule
out all larger breeds either, if you are willing
to go for long walks 2 times a day.
Some large breeds can be couch potatos.

Check out the different dog breed web sites etc.

Their is a Web site, but I can't remember the addy,
that is a questionair and matches the dog breed to your life style.
Maybe someone from Pet Talk will remember.
    Might be Purina or something?

Pugs are pretty cool. Boston Terriers dont require alot of room to run either.

    Definitely for Chihuahua's!!

I know I'm biased, but a chi chi is def. small and don't require alot of room. There alot of toy breeds to choose from and I'm sure you will get plenty of help here!

Maltese, Papion, Or a chi! I dont know much about the others, but i have a maltese, and she is the sweetest and cutest thing on four legs! Besides the great personality, she is small, doesnt need a whole lot of room, but should be taken on walks, is easy clean up after, doesnt eat a lot, and isnt supose to shed. She is the best dog out their!
    Wish u luck!
