Using eBay prices for sale items

    Hi, everyone!

My mom is having a sale next weekend where she is selling a lot of cat figurines.

I have used eBay to get an idea of what price to ask. If one price is high and another low I judge the condition of the piece Mom has and try for a reasonable in-between price.

Do you think the prices are reasonably accurate for market value on eBay?

    Thanks!

As long as you are looking at the items that actually sold, that's good basis for comparison, but be prepared to let people negotiate.

First, you must be logged in, or the menus do not appear.

Next, after you search for the item, scroll down watching the far left, till you see: FORMAT. Below that are 3 choices AND slightly to the right you see SEE ALL. Click on that.

Now you get a new pop up menu. Go to the bottom, to SHOW ONLY. Click there.

New menu, click on SOLD LISTINGS.

Now, for the item you searched, you are seeing just sold listings. That will indicate what folks are willing to pay for that item. Check a few, see if they are free shipping or if there is an add on for shipping costs.

Finally, it depends what you goal is. As I am clearing out my folks' house, I really need stuff to move. So, if the item is selling for $100 and free shipping, I post mine on craigslist for half that, $50. This means I do get some money, the Buyer gets a great deal, and the stuff moves! For my listings, I do insist on cash only, pick up only.

    Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thanks, Sandie! I do have an eBay account so I can do that. I'll check it out!
