    Bottle babies in October??

It's LATE in the season for bottle babies, but hey, it was 103 yesterday so it's not like they're getting cold! I got a call from the shelter while I was on my way home from the Renaissance Faire yesterday, asking if I could take four bottle babies. *Gulp* I've never had four at once, but I wasn't about to turn them down! Thankfully they are around 2 1/2 weeks old, so they can sleep through the night at this point. There are three boys and one girl. I suspect one of the boys has a different father; the other three have long, SOFT fur and slightly flat faces, like they are part Persian. He has a longer face and short, coarser fur.

    Here they are!

OMG is is food time? We'll all charge out at once!!

The girl looks to me like a hamster! She is FLUFFY, much more so than her brothers, and she has a short tail and a darling waddle.

She also has the flattest face of the four. She hasn't told me her name yet.

Sargent Sushi is a Smoke Tabby....he is GORGEOUS! Photos don't do him justice, he is really a handsome kitten. He also wiggles his ears when he drinks from the bottle! It melts me.

Lieutenant Lima Bean isn't really interested in food yet. They were probably eating tasty Mama's Milk until they were found yesterday and this icky formula is not to his taste. Hopefully he will change his mind tomorrow! I'm not really worried, as he is plump and active and LOUD.

Not a great picture of Captain Cornbread. He is SUPER wiggly and VERY social. Also, he loves people. Did I mention he's incredibly friendly? LoL....he is an exceedingly affectionate boy, and I think once he goes up for adoption he will be gone in a day.

Oh my goodness! Hello, tiny precious kittens! (Snakemama, were these little ones separated from their mommy-cat? I know this is a stupid question, but I'm concerned about her- why might she not have been brought to the rescue along with her babies?) Grow and be healthy and happy, sweet wee kittens!

Oh my gosh, what adorable babies! God bless you for taking them on, snakemama, and God bless them and their mommy too, and I also hope so much she was found and is being cared for.

Mama cat wasn't with them when they were found. These guys were transferred in from a REALLY overcrowded shelter so I didn't get the full story, but I hope someone is putting out traps for mama cat so she can get spayed and hopefully adopted out as well. The intersection where they were found is written on their paperwork, so I suppose I could park there and wander around and see if there are any promising spots to put out a trap for mama...

Even up here in RI, we are seeing the feral cats have 3 and even 4 litters PER YEAR. It wasn't like this just 10 years ago, so something has changed (climate for sure, along with food sources).

Those babies are so precious! Thank you for taking them in and caring for them!

Miss Mochi! You are absolutely, utterly precious! Please grow big, strong, sweet, healthy and happy!

p.s., snakemama, I still hope the kittens' mommy-cat can be trapped and rescued. I lighted a candle for her on our gratefulness.org page.

A quick update and not nearly enough pics....these guys are driving me bonkers! They will use their litterbox (mostly), they chew on the bottle's nipple more than they suck on it, but they ALL refuse to eat solid food or even sip kitten milk from a bowl! They are WELL past the age when my kittens are usually off of the bottle, and I had to go buy a second bottle to speed the feeding process, because they are now drinking an entire bottle apiece at each feeding! Grrrr, guys...try the canned food!!

Mochi says...let's try to get the ENTIRE BOTTLE in my mouth!

That didn't work?! BITE THE NIPPLE!!!

Lieutenant Lima Bean seems to be everyone's favorite when they meet the kittens. He's mellow, purr-y, and very lovable!

A bad picture of everyone on the stairs!

Sargent Sushi got peed on a few days ago and had to have a bath. He was pretty peeved, so I made it up to him with food, of course!

    Wet baby!

I didn't realize that I didn't have any new ones of Captain Cornbread, I'll work on that!!

With all of the drama with Ember and such, I haven't updated about these guys in awhile! They are weaned, and aside from miss Mochi having some icky diarrhea (We got her some antibiotics today since the fortiflora didn't do the trick) they are in great health! Lt. Lima Bean went through a shy stage where I had a hard time getting pictures, but he seems to be over it now so I should be able to get some photos of him to share soon!

    Captain Cornbread isn't shy though!!

Sgt. Sushi is becoming more beautiful every day.

He is going to be stunning!!

Meanwhile, Mochi grows exponentially more adorable.

    Cornbread is very very playful!

    Well, they all are!

    LEAP!

These two are already very good friends!
