Thread: We have a breakthrough!!

    We have a breakthrough!!

Weeks back I bought Edwina a drinking fountain. She was afraid of it. She insisted on drinking from the humidifier instead.

I tried everything I could think to do. She got her turkey treats next to it (instead of on the table on a placemat!) so she would associate the noise with something good.

I cleaned it...just in case (the dog drank from it at Thanksgiving!)

At last...in frustration on Sunday evening I gave her back her regular water dish. Put it on her mat -- next to the drinking fountain.

Last night while we were eating in she came....cozied up to the fountain...and had a nice long drink!

She won the battle of the wills. Life is very simple when you are a cat!

    Congrats Edwina!

Same thing here - I got my fountain around Halloween. Abby and Hanna took to it right away, but Bo was skeptical. He liked the regular water bowl. Just a few days ago, I saw him drinking from the fountain (probably because Abby has the habit of dropping dry cat food in the regualr water bowl ). Finally! He wasn't drinking out of the running stream part yet, but I was happy to see him using it.

Edwina thinking - "my, what is this, why it looks like a water fountain. I'm so glad that I discovered it!"

Edwina was just wanting to make sure it was free of dog slobber! Can't blame a girl for that.

Edwina, dah-ling, what an amazing discovery!

Maybe it was the putting the old water bowl back. When she saw what she had been drinking out of, then saw that fantastic water fountain she now had, she "discovered" how wonderful running filtered water was compared to that plain ol' stuff that just sits in a bowl.

    You go girl!

Oh, and Sara, I hope you don't think that just because you saw her drink out of it once that she's completely taken to it. I had my fountain for years before I physically saw either T or P actually drinking out of it (thought the water was just evaporating there for a while). And even now that I know Tubby drinks out of it (because I've seen him) he still prefers the toilet. And Peanut still prefers the glass on the floor beside the bed.

So don't be surprised if Edwina still prefers the humidifier for awhile.

Edwina, you sure have mommy in a good place! Place mats for your treats? That is wonderfully formal!

I am glad the fountain has finally worked out..for now anyhow.

Sure enough...we had a setback last night -- scared of the fountain and begging for the humidifier water!
