    Has anyone heard of this?

    Hi PT friends,
My son Mike is a supervisor in general services with the state Department of Environmental Protection. His unit works with other state agencies including Fish & Wildlife. They're currently doing a review of records involving applications to keep exotic pets. During this review, they came across an application from someone to keep "Siberian Hamsters". Nothing was found in the file describing them or providing any information or pictures. One of Mike's workers tried to google it but nothing came up. Curiosity is running pretty high over them.

Have any of you ever heard or know anything about Siberian Hamsters? We had a hamster as a pet when Mike was growing up but we never thought of them as being exotic. Thanks for any insight or information you may be able to share.

Yes, we owned a Siberian Dwarf Hamster, his name was Vadim - this was many, many years ago. They are not uncommon!

I just googled it and got over 1 million sites. I'm sure they aren't all relevant, but it even came up with photos of the cute little critters.

This was the first site listed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djungarian_hamster
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

    I Googled too - 812,000. Can't imagine why Mike's coworker couldn't find anything.

    Siberian Hamster

    Hi momcat!

I found an old ad selling these cuties here in the Philippines. Though I really thought it so odd that these babies will live in a tropical country like mine. But here is the link to the ad anyway:

btw, the place mentioned in the ad was in an island in central Philippines. About 400 to 500 kms. from my city - Manila.

Maybe you can request info by registry to their site.

Hope this piece of info could help you.
