    treeing walker or beagle???

When we bought her at 9 weeks old she was sold as a beagle. We have an older beagle and thought yes she looks and is a beagle. Now shes 4 months. On a walk a passer byer said "is that a walker?" I thought a what? Its a beagle. He said "you sure??? I had lots of walkers growing up, thats a walker." Sooooo now i look up walker info. Vet says shes a beagle but im Not so sure she is anymore. What do you all think?

How big is she? They look very similar, but a Treeing Walker Coonhound is much taller, up to 27 inches tall, so you may have to wait and see how big she gets! did you meet either of her doggie parents when you got her?

No the lady we got her said she got her from a breeder that she's AKC Beagle....but couldn't supply the paperwork b/c she never "went in to get it" which I'm not sure what she means by that. wouldn't she get the paper from the breader? when I asked her for breeder contact info she said she deleted it from her phone.....SOOOOO I don't know. vet say beagle but the more I research Walkers she fits more there than with beagles..... she's just a hair shorter than our 12 yr old beagle. she has super long legs and a small head in respect to the size of her body. Hmmmph I'm stumped...

I wonder if the lady you got her from was lying, about where she got her and her breed! She does have long legs at 4 months old, and if she keeps on growing, you'll have the answer. If a dog is theoretically AKC registered, but the person cannot supply you with papers, or even the breeder's name or contact info, there's something really fishy there. But I am glad she is with you, someone who cares! And you managed to include the pictures even if you didn't think you could!

Yes there were many fishy things as the transfer of ownership happened. She said she paid 450, but would take the 220 we paid her. Later on she texted me the shot records and for whatever reason gave me the "receipt" she got from said breeder....showing 150. LOL It was also funny that she deleted the breeder info so quickly, one would think if you didn't get the AKC papers yet or would like possible future info you would keep it on hand somewhere?????? Either way, yes thank you. She has come a long way and me too. As we have always had rescue adults, not puppies. Now if we could only keep her from driving my old dog nuts w/nipping! lol Thanks again!

Hee hee - if the old dog has enough, she is bound to correct that young whippersnapper - I once saw our Saint Bernard Freckles take one giant paw and swat a nippy visitor so he (a Lab mix belonging to a family friend) ended up rolling across the lawn like a bowling ball. He sure was surprised, and confused, but did not bite at her era one bit after that!

LOL I wish he would! He;s old and fat and just bothered by her. He does nip a little harder when he's had enough but generally just makes this awful howl when she wants to play, which is ALL the time. She got put in her place a bunch at the dog park but sadly forgets the rules of play once we're back home. lol. Thank you very much for chatting with me. I appreciate it!

Treeing walkers tend to be bigger and a lot taller and leggier than beagles. At this young of an age it may be hard to tell. Chances are likely you have a beagle or beagle mix... but you'll know for sure if he gets older but is twice as tall as beagles

Thanks Cassiemom glad to be a member, so many nice doggy peeps out there!
She's almost 5 mo, Her name is Sammy and her big bro is Frodo. Frodo was named when we rescued him and our last name is Baginski....so we thought we'd stick with the Lord of the Rings theme! lol. A little dorky I know.
