Just in school, this was long before it began to pick up steam here in the US.

I really enjoy the fanaticism people show.

In CA, there are tons of different flags you see during the Cup, the Mexicans being the largest contingent represented. People fly their country's flag everywhere and if there was a TV on? There was a group of people standing around watching.

The 94 Cup was really fun - some games were played in Los Angeles and people were into it.

    -----------

A comedian once quipped that he understood why people rioted after some games.

He said, "I'd be upset to if I stood there for a few hours cheering and there was only one goal scored."

I did watch the UEFA championship game last weekend and noticed that there wasn't any fans walking around as they do during a baseball, basketball or other sporting event here in the US - that game was played in Spain and the teams playing were regional rivals! that may have had something to do with it.

Or even better: a 0-0 tie.

    Even worse?

    -----------

I sat down and tuned into the Mexico/Ecuador game and saw one of the worst injuries I have ever seen in a game.
One of the Mexican players had his leg broken on a really hard tackle.

    It was pretty gnarly.
