Well, I wonder how many pet owners have never swatted their pet?

Swatting and kicking is two different things , especially if a cat is kicked out of anger. A kick from an angry man can really hurt a cat.

I wouldn't even have replied to your post if it weren't for this. >

The family initially said they wanted to keep Lux and seek therapy for him but made the decision on Monday to release him to Multnomah County Animal Services. According to the shelter’s website, “We are working with the owners to facilitate the best possible outcome for Lux. A local cat behavior specialist has offered their services for Lux whether he stays with his current owners or is placed with a new family.” The shelter said it will post the information if the family decides to put Lux up for adoption. The news was posted to the Multnomah County Animal Services Facebook page where several people have already offered to adopt the cat and give him a loving home – where he won’t be kicked. Many people on the shelter’s Facebook page are even calling for prosecution of Lux’s owners for animal abuse.
I'm glad to see that Lux is the priority here.

Never mind my last post. Cat going back so now owners can make money off of him. Not thinking I'll watch Cat from Hell again.

I didn't see anything in the article about the cat going back to his home. The things Galaxy said make a ton of sense. I wish Lux all the best, even if he gets another home.

Instead, I fear the family is taking Lux back because of the opportunity to go on a reality TV show. Trust me, this might make you famous, but for all the wrong reasons. If you go on this show, you’re showing the world that you’re the idiot who kicked a cat. You’re showing the world that you were the weak guy who had to call the police because the family pet trapped you in the room. You’re showing the world that you’re the clueless idiot who dropped your family pet off at the shelter and only took him back because you wanted to get your 15 minutes of fame.
Finally, to the Multnomah County Animal Services, how can you turn Lux back over to a family that admits kicking him? Your job is to keep animals safe. This doesn’t sound like you’re putting taxpayers’ money to good use by just handing this innocent cat over to a family that straight up admitted abuse.
