Aww, what a nice story! Hank is one smart stray to adopt a baseball field as his place to haunt, with all those guys coming to train, and probably missing their own pets at home, he was sure to win someone's heart! And who better to fetch batting practice balls than a little dog ready to retrieve!

"Spring training" has nothing to do with training a dog. It is when the baseball teams start practicing and training and getting in condition for the upcoming season which begins in April. Most of the players have been inactive all winter after the playing season ended around the previous October, and if they plan to be a winning team, then they must get back in shape. Simply put, it's like warming up and stretching exercises that you might do before you went out to jog or run, except this training is on-going for weeks. It seems that this little dog showed up at this team's training camp, and decided to stay. A happy ending for him tho, since he got adopted!

Does that make sense to you?
