Thanks for sharing. I've heard that Danes are supposed amongst the happiest people in the world, but I think that might have been true years ago.

So many are unemployed here and you even see people living in the street. Many are from Eastern European countries, but not all. Some beg in the street and some are lucky to find work, but for a very low wage. That means the companies will employ them before a Dane. The social security system has been cut to the bone during the past few years and some have had to move out of their flat/house. You cannot own a car or anything worth anything if you want any help. Some have had to get divorced to make ends meet, because if one has a job, he/she has to support the other. Young people who study will get a very low amount to live on and in many cases, that is not enough to pay rent, let alone buy food or any other things.

Anyway, here's a link to Dagmar Fink's article about Denmark. She is a German who lived here for many years and is also the one who started "the Cat-sitting Exchange" group, plus others.

Thanks, Randi. I looked at Dagmar Fink's article. I was surprised to read that many foreign well-educated professionals feel unwelcome in Denmark and want to leave. I had the idea it was more the refugees from Africa and the Middle East, as well as Eastern Europe, who have a hard time becoming part of Danish society.

I also clicked on the Copenhagen Post link, but it just says "Our website is under severe load right now" and suggests I visit them on Facebook and Twitter. No thanks!
