    Th-ARRRRRRSSSS-Day #551

It's National Talk Like a Pirate day today!

I think some Rum Punches/coconut drinks, barbacoa and a paddle about on a blow up pirate ship I got for the swimming pool is in order!

Avast ye swabbies, Make sail for the high 'Cs' and if you can't sing, Hum along...

No rum punch for me, mateys... but I'm drinking iced tea if anyone else would like some. It's humid in Chicago today.

Arrrr! Me pirate name --- Dirty Ethel Flint
You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

That's the chorus from an old silly witty we sang as kids!

A capitol ship for an ocean trip was the Walloping Window Blind
No gale that blew dismayed her crew or troubled the captains mind
The man at the wheel was taught to feel contempt for the wildest blow ...
And it often appeared when the weather had cleared that he'd been in his bunk below

    Soo.....

It was 40 years ago today (Sept. 20, 1973) that Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs in a tennis match. My dad and my brother both enjoy tennis -- it sure has changed a lot since then!

I broke open the jar of pickled beets the other day! Yum, anyone want some? I figure anything pickled or canned could go safely on a ship for the long trips ...

Oh and Salted too! The only thing that I don't like pickled is sweet cukes.....

    CM,

I can't get past the grunting and outfits on todays matches......

Jack Sparrow walks into a pirate bar alone and grabs a seat.

A waitress recognizes him and walks over to the table.

"Why if it isn't Jack Sparrow!"

"Yes, can I have a drink!" "Sure!" answers the waitress.....and he orders a some rum.

She begins to walk away but then turns to him and says, "Are you expecting some one or are you alone today?"

Sparrow replies he is alone this day and the waitress inquires, "Where are your buccanneers?"

Sparrow looks at her and says, "On the side of my bucking head..."

What about some roasted pigs and pickles and figs and gummery bread each day?

( I can do without the tons of hot cross buns chopped up with sugar and glue!)

Oooo, Oooohh, can I see the anagazander roar?

Today is the last home game of this dismal season for the Cubs. They play in St. Louis over the weekend, and then they are done. As of today they are 65 and 93. So I'm raising (with diet Sierra Mist) the loyal Cubs fan's annual toast: Here's to next year.
