Sandie, I am so sorry to hear the sad news about Lacey. I feel like I knew her thru your sharing of pictures and stories.
I'm shocked at how suddenly our pets can be taken from us. I'm glad you shared Lacey's near perfect day at the farm with the other
fluffs. She sounded so happy to go on her walkie with the other pups.

Rest easy now sweet Lacey. You will be missed by all that knew you. (((Hugs))) to you Sandie.

Just read about your Lacey and I can only repeat how very sorry I am that you're going through this . At least you have such wonderful memories of her last day with you-- sounds like she couldn't have been any happier than when you took her to the farm, I'm sure she fell asleep dreaming of all the things she saw and got to sniff on that walk.
I know how hard the next days will be but try to remember all the good times you shared. Her last memories were of that wonderful day and she will be with you again.

Thank you, Asiel. I am so so sad, I keep thinking of how she came to live with me, and all the things we did together over the 6+ years. Lacey was my heart dog, we had a special connection I've not had with the others.

Lacey is the last of my original 4, they came here within 8 months: Sugar, Lacey, Marlin and Ozzy. Then came my one week foster, Ben. The current group (Tasha, Willy and Riley) are my second wave.

Thinking of you and of Lacey today. Hoping God grants you a peaceful heart.

    I'm Still Here

Friend, please don't mourn for me
I'm still here, though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
and within your heart I long to stay.

My body is gone but I'm always near.
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
as long as you keep me alive in your heart.

I'll never wander out of your sight-
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach-
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.

I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around
and the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear cool water in a quiet pond.

I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.

When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
you can talk to me through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.

I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep
and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

In tears here. I am so so sorry to hear about Lacey. Atleast her last days were good going to the park and such, she didn't have to endure a lessened quality of life. Try to take comfort in that. (((((HUGS))))) I know how strong the bond between a heart dog and their human is. Its painful to lose them, but the lessons they teach and the memories they leave behind are worth it.

Oh my, somehow I missed this on Facebook and here!
I am also in tears. I remember the original four. They were my favorite groups of fluffs from when I originally joined Pet Talk.
Sandie, I am so very sorry for your loss.

    RIP Beautiful Lacey Girl

Freedom I soo understand when you mention Lacey was your heart dog----- they say we are very lucky to have had that one special friend in our life and you did have Lacey. I've had only one heart dog myself and one heart horse if that applies. Lots in between but never to the point of the bond we shared where you're sure they can read your mind before you even have the thought.
It gets better each day but never completely disappears---I would never want it to.
The poem Lizbud put here says it all and I truly believe those words.
