It's never bothered me if people refer to their cats as dog like. I've been referring to my Sky as a kitty dog for many years now because he loves people and attention like most dogs do. He's very outgoing for a cat and doesn't seem to be afraid of any one. Most of my other cats will hide when they hear some one coming over but he looks forward to it. When he goes to the vet, he can't wait to be let out of his carrier so he can see everyone. My other cats don't want to be out of the carrier and most of them are very scared at the vets. Sky will give everyone headbutts.

My cat, Chester, fetches. Still does even though he is now 13. He is the only cat I've ever had that does that and it tickles me. That's not something every cat does but most dogs do. He has never been around a dog and picked that up all on his own. So, he has a dog-like behavior. I see nothing confusing or weird about calling it that.
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!

Ming is my cat who loves the visitors! The other two hide or keep their distance, especially MacGyver, but Ming is the proverbial Welcome Wagon. When the tech from Direct TV was here last week to fix a problem, Ming sat next to him for about 20 minutes, just waiting to be of help. It was then he told me that he was allergic to cats! Well, Ming was quite put out that he had to be put in the bathroom, behind a locked door. The other two kept their distance nicely. At the vet's office, Mac is the friendly one while Ming just growls at them. Kimba just acts scared. They all have their different personalities, don't they?

My RB fur-nephew Milo used to play fetch! He was also good at setting his sights on the one person in the room who was not a total cat lover, and charming that person into keeping him on their lap for as long as he could. (He rarely chose my lap because I used to scoop him up for hugs and kisses every time I got near him!)

My Juke Joint Joseph Moose The MagnfiCat and Mister Scrappy were my Cat Ambassadors and would run to see whoever came to the door
They would be so friendly and purrrrrr!!!
I remember when My Financial advisor visited and Mister Scrappy jumped into his briefcase and went to sleep.
I was horrified as there were important papers in there. But he laughed as he gently lifted My Big Tuxedo saying that he did not need a partner just yet but he would keep Mister Scrappy in mind. He is a consumate gentleman

Oberon, my older shih tzu, is very catlike in his behavior. (Or he was, until he grew quite elderly.) He'd never fetch, just take what was his and go off with it, and he's always been temperamental and demanding. (Even more so, now.) He has always treated me like staff. Now more than ever.

I usually lurk on this forum A LOT... However, my husband and I have a dog that has the personality of most of the cats I have had. This would be a pug named Dixie. She sits on the back of the couch, only wants petted when she wants - and will move away if she doesn't want your attention. Although, she also likes to perch on hubby's shoulder, so I could say she might think she's a parrot also...

None of our dogs really fetch. They will go after the toy I throw for them but never will bring it back to me. If I want them to fetch it again I have to go and retrieve said toy. Crazy dogs! But I love them...
