    soo annoyed

so I got a call today.. from my elder neighbor.. she called because my dog once again got up the griller and was suspiciously almost trying to jump over to her backyard..

I laughed once more.. apparently once up the dog got "stuck" trying to figure how to go back.. but my neighbor didn't find it funny..

she was seriously scared.. and said "what about if he jumps and bites me".. I laughed again.. she won't bite.. she's a baby.. just a BIG baby.. and even if she was full grown.. my dogs won't bite..

and she replied "if he jumps I know I can call you and you'll come to get him.. but what if I'm outside in the yard.. or what if my grandkids are out there too?".. I said they might be scared by such a big dog.. but you shall not worry.. she won't harm any of you.. she's been socialized with small children too.. the most they'd get would be a lick... (she knows my kids)..

oh.. but no.. she insisted I put something up there just in case she once day decides to take a leap to her side.. uggh..

I will have to put something up.. not because of her.. well.. in part yes.. I don't want her to call me everyday just because the dog jumped up again and *might* jump over.. we don't use that griller anymore so it won't be trouble..

I think what I hate the most is her silly fears.. but oh well..

    rant over.. :P

Maybe you should put her on a leash and bring her over to meet the neighbor in person, so she can realize what a sweetheart she is, and not be afraid any more. This is an opportunity to educate her!

Karen has a very good point. An introduction might alleviate her fears by seeing what a great dog he is.

Yes, good idea to introduce Zelda to the neighbors. But also, since you do not use the grill can you move it away from the fence? We had issues with Taggart jumping the fence. First solution was to move the garbage can away from the fence. Second solution was to put up some lattice work over the area he was getting up at and the last solution (so far) was to put an old door against the fence. It doesn't look very nice, but eventually the ivy will grow over it. It kind of has a rustic look to it............LOL.

I know how stressful dealing with "upset" neighbors can be. We've got a couple - one for the trees and one for the "loud" music.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

well.. she's met her before.. but she's scared of even the tiniest pups.. when I took in the lil Chi.. he originally walked up to her and she shooed him away out of fear.. that's when he came up to me and I picked him up and got him in.. so I don't think bringing her over again would do any good.. hehe.. but I could try..

as for the griller.. it's a brick one.. so it can't be moved unless demolished.. but that won't be happening.. and besides they are using it as a dog house, since the other one they literally ate into pieces.. and Zelda wouldn't fit anymore.. and under there she can lay all splayed out haha..

I just put some wire where she climbs up.. hope it deters her for now.. at least until she grows out of it.. haha...

Maybe you can talk with her, and ask if she would like to meet Zelda in person, and explain it might help her get over her fear of dogs. Your crew could be he individual therapy dogs, and help her get over this fear that must keep her from enjoying some things, as there are dogs many places! Explain your dogs are well trained and polite - even plan to take her for a walk beforehand so she's less energetic than usual, etc. You never know, it might help her!
