You might want to change your Yahoo password.

This has been all over the news today. Yahoo pulled a *huge* stupid.

Thankfully I do not have a Yahoo email address that I use, but this will be annoying for an awfully lot of people!

I have one but I rarely use it and I usually forget to even check e-mails. My dad has one though and it's his main e-mail address. He's out of town now so I should probably e-mail him about this.

Thanks for the heads-up. I checked, and mine wasn't on the list, but I think I'll change my password anyway.

I have several email addresses, but none were listed. I use long, non-standard passwords, easy for me to remember but not easy to guess.

A little bit of math for you. 8 character password takes about two hours to a day to crack. A 12 character (including numeric and other characters) password takes considerably longer. The claims vary but range from a least a year to 44000 years. I know, sounds strange. But why not go for the long passwords. And try not to use whole words.

Mine are overdue for a change or modification anyway.

Here is a link to check possible passwords. I did not enter my passwords but made up passwords of similar style. The results were interesting.

I entered an acronym that was 14 characters long. It would take 35 centuries to crack!

    Test your password.

What's interesting is how clever it is. If I used the word "first' and replaced it with "f1rst", it doesn't really slow it down much. Use an acronym like kp.co_fgs1 with a few non-alphanumeric characters and it takes decades to decipher. Of course, if I were a scientist, I wouldn't use that one anyway.

I guess I need to change my passwords because it says that they're too easy to crack.
