I don't know what an enlarged spleen entails but I hope it's something manageable??

Wishing all the best for beloved Simba.

Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent his way. It's so hard to watch our pets age.

So good news - the ultrasound doctor says Simba's spleen looks 'normal' for a dog his age/breed. His liver is larger and enzymes are up so we're taking him off his rimadyl and trying something a bit different to manage his pain.

Varga, my worries with the enlarged spleen was the possibility of cancer of some sort. The ultrasound showed that this wasn't a worry and that no cancer is visible.

So, we're doing "good" for an old man! My heart was breaking all last night and this morning but it was such a relief to get good news after his ultrasound. Here's another pic of my old man from yesterday...

He got a good bath today and going home with some new meds. Hopefully this keeps him comfortable for a while.

What a sweet looking dog Simba is! I'm relieved to hear he does not have a serious disease. I hope he has several more good years--for him and for you.

Does he have cataracts? Or is it juts the lighting on the photo?
Except for some white hair on his muzzle, he really looks fine though!

Everything crossed that your boy continues to do well. He looks great for a nearly 15 year old .
