    rushed Nutmeg to the vet

I just got back from rushing Nutmeg to the vet. I was just finishing my dinner and I heard a cat throwing up. I assumed it was Tilly (she often has hairballs) but saw that it was Nutmeg, which is VERY unusual. She vomited about 5 times. I cleaned it up and while doing so could smell a really foul odor; I checked the litter box and there was a pile of very soft, mucousy, bloody stool. I checked it more carefully to see if the blood appeared just on the outside, but it was quite dark in colour and was throughout the stool, and the odor was overpoweringly stinky. I called the vet immediately and took her in, where they are doing bloodwork, xrays, and keeping her for at least one night of IV fluids and observation.

Please pray for Nutmeg. I can't handle another illness, and I go away on Friday for Christmas. Plus, I'm broke. This is going to cost me $1000 and I have no money and no credit cards - I'm trying to pay off my debt, not add to it. I will find a way to pay for it but please keep my Nutmeg and this situation in your prayers.

    Thanks.

    Prayers for dear Nutmeg.

Vet just called with results of the xrays. She doesn't have any signs of obstruction or anything, just pockets of gas and fluid, which the vet said is normal in this circumstance. She also said that Nutmeg put up quite a fight when putting in the IV, which I think is a good sign. We are keeping our fingers crossed that she doesn't get the IV out overnight, but I wouldn't be suprised if she did manage to get it out. I just want to be able to bring her home tomorrow.

I'm praying for little Nutmeg. I hope it was just a one time, general tummy upset. If it makes you feel any better, Ming did this exact same thing about a month ago. He NEVER vomits, that's Mac's department. I had to go to work, but only for about four hours, so I decided if he wasn't any better when I got home he was going to the emergency vets (this was on a Saturday, Ming always gets sick on weekends!). When I got home he was much better and by that evening was playing. I hope the same thing happens for Nutmeg. I know what you mean about no money, but like you, I would have found it somewhere!

How is little Nutmeg today? Any chance of bringing her home today? I do hope so. Still praying for the little princess.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!
