    Alice

Alice gave me a huge scare Friday night. She has always been a water gulper but this time she drank too much. She got bloated and threw up 25+ times. This was around 10PM but I was freaking out and texted one of the vets I work with. She ended up meeting me at home and then we went to the animal hospital. We did xrays and it wasnt bloat but the xrays showed some funny things going on in there. She's being treated for a bad stomach ache basically and because of this we found something that has me a bit freaked out. Her heart isnt in the right position and her left lung is collapsed. Now, Dr thinks it may just be the way she was born and we just happened to come across it. She wants to have an ultrasound done for more answers. Alice has been her normal goofy self this whole time, doesnt act sick at all! I guess we will be doing an ultrasound on Thursday.

I'm sorry to hear this. I hope that she'll be fine and that whatever is causing this can be easily treated. Prayers and positive thoughts are being sent her way.

That is scary. I hope the Vet can find out what, if anything, should be done. That's weird to think Alice may have been born with a collapsed lung and heart abnormality. I hope she feels better soon. Saying prayers for Alice.

Jeepers, first she scares you to death, and then she surprises you with odd anatomy. Alice! What's up, Pup?

If a dog is born w/ a collapsed lung, does it hurt the same as a normal lung which becomes collapsed?

Has she ever shown signs of low stamina, you know, can't run far or some such?

Prayers the vet can figure it all out!

Well, I decided against doing the ultrasound seeing as it's $200+ and she's shown no signs of a collapsed lung or misplaced heart. Now, if she starts showing any problems as a result of it I'll investigate farther. As of now, she's her complete normal, bouncy self! No more vomiting since Saturday and she's back on her normal diet.

At this point, we believe it's just something she was born with. Makes complete sense considering she was the runt and only one to survive out of her litter.

I am glad she is back to her normal self. And hey, doesn't matter which side her heart is on, as long as it works, right? Thanks for letting us know!
