    Pumpkins & Halloween

Well its that time of the year again. I decorated my place like i have for 12 yrs. This yr though i planted pumpkin seeds & grew a few nice pumpkins. All it takes is love, care & plenty of water. I also have 2 baby pumpkins growing (1 is yellow & 1 green). Pumpkins go from green to yellow to orange. I put off growing pumpkins for 10 yrs but my nice neighbor gave me some seeds & heres the results. Checkout my pics.

YES, you're right. Space is important. I originally planted 12 seeds but only 5 grew (1 rotted after maturity). The orange ones are sunburnt but should be ok. The weather here has finally changed & fall (such as it is in ca) has arrived.

Yes, we were not allowed to grow pumpkins when I was a kid because they took up so much space that was needed for growing vegetables to eat and to can for the winter. However, when we kids were grown and out of the house, the grandkids got to plant pumpkins in grandpa's garden!

It was a intresting experience for me but i wont plant pumpkins again next year. Here it is mid november & i still have 1 or 2 new pumpkins just starting to grow. It hasnt been freezing here in yucaipa yet & the daytime highs are in the low 70s & lows in the low 50s. That should change later this week to cooler weather. Next yr im planting watermelons. Halloween has come & gone just like thanksgiving will next week & christmas next month. Before you know it 2012 will be here.

    just a friendly hello

    Steel,
I do not know you, but every post I have seen written by you is so very heartfelt I have a 19 yr old cat a 7 yr old cat and two 5 1/2 yr old min pins, they are my babies. I found your thread about cat vomitting. I would love to know how you and your cats are doing and let you know that it makes me so happy to know that God has blessed this world with a caring soul like you.
    Sincerely,
    vadergirl
