So glad that it worked. It can be so frustrating dealing with food allergies even for a person - I have a lot of them, and sometimes people say "how can you stand it?" I simply assure them that straying and eating things I shouldn't just would lead to such misery - and for so long - that I am not even tempted.

It's been 2 weeks and no diarrhea. I'm thrilled and I think he is too! I switched from white to brown rice with the chicken so he has some fiber and I think he likes the brown rice a little better. For the first time since I rescued him he is acting like a normal cat.

    Wonderful!

If you feel so inclined, maybe post in Cat General one day as we would love to hear the story of how he came to live with you.

Well, the problem is returning. He's going more frequently and his stools are loose He's eating only chichen and brown rice and after about 3 weeks of normal stools it's starting again. Any suggestions?

I am at a loss. Is anyone giving him anything else? Did something stressful happen? This could be temporary this time.

Has his vet checked him for infections?

I'm fostering a cat that cannot tolerate chicken. She eats fish. She nibbled on some albacore tonight. Not much, but it was a start. Now I need to find a way to give her some vitamins. She needs lots of attention but doesn't like other kitties. sigh

Cats are such complex creatures. It sounds like he needs constant reassurance after 4 years in a garage.

    Good luck.

I have a couple of guys that have this issue, so I understand how frustrating this can be. (And yes my guys are on rice and chicken) But I also add some canned pumpkin and that usually takes care of things, with the side benefit of reducing hair balls in everyone

If he won't eat the pumpkin, you can always try a baked sweet potato or yam (which also does the trick).

You might need to keep him on a low-dose prednisolone to keep things under control. (It looks like I will have to do that for one of my guys ...)
