New dog book with TOTALLY new ideas

How we came to misunderstand dogs - great interview with the author. Fascinating!

Er, I'm confused. Didn't read anything "new," that is how I've been taught to interact w/ dogs right along. Positive reinforcement, no choke collars, no hitting the dog, and forget Cesar Milan and his methods.

It is what the dog school I use preaches, not seeing anything "new" here. And that school is almost 20 years old.

Sounds like a good read. I always get comments on my well-behaved dogs or my ferret who doesn't bite. My way about animals is not about reinforcement at all. I use both positive and reasonable negative in their lives but their training is not all about either one. Its about the bond you build with them that makes them want to choose you as their leader. I haven't even done any structured training with Naylee since I've gotten her but she wants to be in the room with me, even if the rest of the family is home too.
