    Kitty Boo's surgery

She had her surgery today and I was really worried and scared. She had scratched and scratched that tumor in her ear until she shredded it and it was infected, I realized that Tuesday night so Wednesday I took her to the vets office and left her. The infection needed to be treated before surgery today and they needed to check her kidney values and try to get those right it they were off... That was my thinking when I took her and the doctor had exactly the same thoughts and asked if I minded leaving her..

Her kidney levels were still off but the surgery HAD to be done. The growth under the skin under her ear has continued to change and get bigger and harder and the one inside the ear just bothered her to much to leave it alone and being infected, it had to go! He used only a little anesthesia and more gas because of her kidneys to keep her out of it for her surgery..

He said he has never seen anything like that one under her ear and he wasn't really sure exactly what it was or what to make of it. It had invaded her saliva gland so he had to remove most of that. We discussed rather to send it off for testing or not and the "what if's"... I made the decision not to have it tested and hope we got all of whatever it was and that it was nothing dangerous..

I brought her home and she ran right to the food and water. She is restless and not happy about that collar, I got a feeling this is going to be a long night for her tonight... Poor baby!

Aw, Kitty Boo, look at you and that big funny ole collar! Let everything heal up now, sweetie.

Good to have it all removed.

What do you do, going forward, when a saliva gland is removed? Never heard of that.

Poor girl! Glad she's home. I'm also curious about dealing with a cat without a saliva gland? I'll pray for her.

He didn't remove the whole gland, just the part that the growth had gotten into and I am sure they would have more than one saliva gland, don't you think?

The collar will be on until the stitches come out in 10 days. Poor baby, I can hear her trying her darnedest to scratch and scratch that ear so thank God that collar is there! I have to wipe it out inside, her ear is draining and there is blood getting on it and in her fur so I have to wipe the collar and her face and she loves me wiping her face..

She has antibiotics to take twice a day so I put that in canned food and spoon feed her that and we have to wash her face and the collar after that but again, she loves me washing her face.

She stays on the perch at the kitchen window because she can prop that collar there and get comfortable. I feel so bad for her having to go through this.. Caramella don't know what to make of it and can't figure out what that is around her neck or why it is there. She will sit right by her at just stare at it.

Is there any kind of spray on numbing stuff that could be put on her ear and area? The feeling must be really frustrating for her.
