Links to help Japan Rescue Effort - Pets and Humans

Here is a list of groups you may want to consider donating to, to help out with the rescue efforts.

Other than American Red Cross, I have never heard of any of these groups.

I've not heard of any that article listed - other than the Red Cross.

There is always Best Friends. They were involved with Katrina and Haiti and a couple of places in the Middle East.

A couple of the places mentioned in their piece are in the one posted by you, Sandie.

Just be careful about charities that you don't know about. Unfortunately there are dirtbags who will take advantage of tragedies.

One should always consider the performance of a charity in relation to the CEO's pay.
CEO compensation is easy enough to find on the net.

    Thanks

I just donated 2500 yen = 31.47 usd via paypal. It was quite easy. I can't imagine how much suffering is taking place, including the animals left behind due to the circumstances.

Thanks for reminding us that the animals are at risk there, too.

After the New Zealand earthquake I donated through Samaritan's Purse because I know of them from church. After the Japanese earthquake, I got an e-mail from Samaritan's Purse reminding me I could donate online. Fortunately, April has 3 pay periods so I will be ahead enough again soon to make a donation somewhere.

There was a story of two dogs filmed in the aftermath of this disaster.

There is a link within the story/video to a facebook page created by a
rescue group specifically for animals. You might find a deserving group
on this page. Seems like they can use all the help they can get.

I had seen part of this video on t.v. and it gave me LES. I hope that both are doing well, now that they have been rescued. I'm such a marshmallow...

BTW - they reported that one dog as a tan and white cocker spaniel. I don't think so, and someone doesn't know their breeds. But nonetheless - I'm happy that they are are now under vet care.

I didn't report it as a Cocker Spaniel but I also assumed it looked like that. That was the saddest video I ever watched, tore me apart.
Okay, I'll go study my breeds now...

I didn't say you reported it as a cocker spaniel - the news article did. That's what I was talking about!

...Ahem... just quoting that although I didn't report it a such I also thought it was a cocker spaniel--- just wanted to clear up your confusion. See, all cleared up since I caught that post . Had me rolling with that one.
