    Sad News

My old cat Opus who was Cat of the who was cat of the day on October 26, has sadly passed away. He had been ill with a nasal infection , but as it was clearing up he had two massive fits, we took him straight away to the vets , we discussed with the vet several options but in the end it was clear that we should let him go with dignity and love and remember him for the wonderfull friend he had been.

I am so sorry about Opus. He was a beautiful kitty. He had a good long life with all the love you gave him over the years. And you gave him the best gift of letting him go peacefully.
I am sure he is having a grand time playing in the water and with his catnip mice and birds up at the Rainbow Bridge.

    RIP Opus

I'm so sorry for your loss. I, too, looked up Opus; he was a very handsome kitty. I know you loved him very much and you were fortunate to have each other for a good long time. It's very painful to lose such a wonderful friend.

RIP dear Opus, and Peace to your family.

Stunning Opus. I reread his COTD story, and your vet had referred to him as "stupidly old". Thanks to you and your love and care, he lived a longer and happier life than he would have anywhere else. However, for us who love our furkids, it's never long enough.

I hope his kitty friend and you all are exchanging cuddles and hugs.

I just looked at and reread his page too. What a beautiful, sweet boy! And what a wonderful long life full of love that you and he all shared for so long!

Rest in peace, beloved Opus. Deepest sympathy to all of you who love him and grieve him so much. Your love is eternal and you will always be together.

I am so sorry for your great loss. Having remembered Opus well as he sparked a lot of attention for me and my cat-loving work colleague on his special day in October, I was sad to hear about his passing.

Opus' story truly reflected love, respect and 20 incredible years of friendship - a legacy he has left with you for all time. This time of painful separation and loss will pass and when it does, the memories of your time with Opus will become ever more precious.

I was fortunate in my life to be owned by a Maine Coon and can well appreciate the many characteristics with which they are blessed. Our Roxy was not only beautiful inside and out, she had a wonderful personality and an uncanny sense of humour that filled us with laughter throughout her lifetime which was all too short. I hope Opus and Roxy meet up at the RB - they'll have way too much fun together

Thank you for sharing Opus with us and letting us know his time had come. PetTalk has so many wonderful people who understand how you feel - an important element in the loss of a good and dear little friend.

Rest in Peace dear Opus - you were well loved and still are

I'm so sorry for your loss of beautiful Opus. I remember his story and his big old paw hanging off the chair in one photo. He was an awesome cat here on earth and will be an awesome cat at the Bridge while he waits for his loved ones. Opus had an exceptionally long, wonderful life with you and I know he will be sadly missed.

Rest in peace and play gently at the Bridge, Opus. Look up our PT kitties who have gone before us and tell them we are waiting for that one fine day...

I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for letting us know. What a beautiful cat he was, and what a great age! RIP Opus.
I don't know about the context in which your vet said he was stupidly old, but I don't see why it is stupid

I'm so sorry to read of Opus' passing. He sure was a gorgeous boy and he didn't look his age either. Must been the Maine Coon breed b/c they're so hardy. No matter how long we have our furkids w/us, it's never long enough, is it? Try to take comfort in knowing that you did the last act of kindness for Opus and he loves you all the more for it and is waiting for the day when you will be reunited. RIP, sweet Opus and peace to your human.
    Blessings,
    Mary

I know what you mean, and totally understand... One cat can never "replace" another, but sometimes it's easier to have a new life around.
