    Mitten Tree 2010

Pictures from our Mitten tree service today and pictures of the church from the outside.Reverend Joe Lafave told the Mitten tree story he started writing in 1982,has been adding to it since is now complete. It is about a group of kids who got all the things they needed and kids that didn't,.One day the kids with everything put their hats and mitts on the tree so the less fortunate could play. After the story,we all go up and fill our tree with hats and mittens to got to the less fortunate. The Sunday school did a play, little ones were dressed as sheep, had what looked like wool beards, the Junior choir sang and we did Away in a Manger. The current brick structure was built in 1870,before this it was a wood frame structure built in the 1830's .By this time next year,we will have an interim minister,Reverend Lafave retires in October he turned 65 in March, may be the last mitten tree service, will have to see what happens with the new minister. We had a committee looking into to finding a new minister, will have a temporary one from October of 2011 to at least April of 2013,at that point may have a permanent minister.
thanks very much devon. I have been boo'd.

Our former church did a mitten tree each year- it was a lot of fun.

Thank you for the photos, Barry! Your church is beautiful both indoors and out!

Beautiful church Barry. The mitten tree is a wonderful idea. My church has a giving tree. You take an envelope off and it lists something a child needs and you return it under the tree. The envelope will give sizes and such.
